Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Optical System Engineer to be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of our custom multi-spectral camera system.
This role involves working on image sensors, optics, image processing algorithms, system integration, and manufacturing, to deliver high-quality imaging performance that will pass clinical trials. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including optical, mechanical, and software engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach and experience in manufacturing custom systems.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design and develop camera systems, including the selection and configuration of image sensors, lenses, and optical components.
● Work on the complete camera pipeline, from light capture to image signal processing (ISP) and output.
● Optimize camera performance for clinical needs.
● Develop and test camera prototypes, ensuring they meet image quality specifications and functional requirements.
● Conduct lab-based performance evaluations.
● Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to camera systems and their manufacturing.
● Work on image processing algorithms, including demosaicing, color correction, noise reduction, and sharpening.
● Collaborate with software teams to implement and optimize image processing pipelines on embedded platforms or mobile devices.
● Develop data processing algorithms
● Propose innovative solutions for improving camera performance and image quality.
● Propose innovative solutions for new clinical applications.
● Prepare and maintain documentation, including camera specifications, test reports, and design files.
The ideal candidate will be one of the following:
1. Has Master's degree or PHD in Electrical Engineering/Optical Engineering/or related field
2. Has Bachelor's Electrical Engineering/Optical Engineering/related field + 5 years of experience in camera system design and development
Qualifications:
● Strong understanding of image processing algorithms, optics, and sensor technologies
● Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Python.
● Experience with image signal processors (ISPs) and related software ● Experience with manufacturing custom systems.
Desired Skills:
● Knowledge of color science and color management systems
● Familiarity with camera calibration techniques and tools
● Experience with mobile camera systems and related constraints
● Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., MIPI, EMVA1288) and regulatory requirements
● Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex
systems and propose innovative solutions
● Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
